History

Sealion Shipping Ltd was originally established in 1975 and has been continuously evolving since.

From early years as a small chemical tanker operator, to developing Platform Supply Vessel operations in the North Sea in the 1980’s, to Toisa Limited’s purchase of Sealion in 1989 to commencement of Saturation Diving operations offshore Brazil in the early 1990’s (leading to Toisa now owning and operating one of  the largest privately-owned DSV fleets in the world) followed by a major newbuilding and expansion programme in the mid/ late Nineties that saw the ordering of the DP3, state of the art, newbuild, Saturation Diving Support Vessel, Toisa Polaris. Then the newbuild DP3 Construction Support and Flexible Pipe-lay Vessel,  Toisa Perseus and 2 x new large VS483 Platform Supply Vessels.

A series of 3 x specialist multipurpose UK built DP II ROV/PSV Support Vessels followed.

The first decade of the new millennium brought additional newbuild programmes demonstrating both innovation and diversity with the commissioning of an ultra large diesel electric powered PSV, a  large DP3 Construction Support  Vessel  (equipped with 400mt capacity heavy lift, active heave compensated, mast crane) and a series of 3 x DPII  ROV/light construction vessels. The  first involvement in AHTS for many years led to an order for 3 x DP1 12000BHP/150t BP AHTS. Subsequent new orders have included a further series of 3 x ultra large DP2 PSVs, a DP2 IRM class Sat Dive Support Vessel, a DP3 Construction Class twin bell Sat Dive Support Vessel and, 3 x  large DPII deepwater AHTS.
